    Thursday, 23 May 2013

  • Want to know who is buying shares and keeping the local bourses ticking over?

    Wednesday, 22 May 2013

Want to know who is buying shares and keeping the local bourses ticking over? The GCC Sovereign Wealth Funds.

During the financial crisis of 2008 many of the GCC Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF) played key roles in shoring up western institutions. They are now performing a similar role across the GCC, providing liquidity and increasing direct investment, particularly to financial institutions, energy, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

So when you see the stock market moves it is increasingly likely that the buyer is a SWF.

The following chart shows the total capital value of GCC Sovereign Wealth Funds.

Why? Because quite frankly, going organic had proved to be heinously expensive. When your average bag of chemical-free carrots cost five times the amount of the usual bunch, one has to draw a line in the sand after all.

    Wednesday, 27 March 2013

Trying to help a friend get out of debt. Found ISDM online, listed as part of IAPDA (International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators) and approached them. They met with us, charged us AED 350 and then were extremely difficult to get hold of for follow-up. They couldn’t even give us a hard copy receipt – they were going to send it via email. After 2 weeks of follow up, we found that they had sent the receipt to a non-existent email address. Further follow-up finally yielded the agreement. This was a one-sheeter, wherein we were authorising them, among other things, ...
